libsmv represents a matrix-vector library written in C++, with attempt to feature both simple and advanced capabilities. Even though it may be used for quite general purposes related to linear algebra, it is mainly targeted to structural/solid mechanics problems. Also, it is consciously tried to be made much more engineering centric, rather then computer science centric, i.e. to be of use to someone whose main concern is obtain a reliable end result when forced to do some ”home-made” programming since the existing code is not sufficient (e.g., for the PhD thesis). Therefore, the main intention in the library development was the simplicity of use and the complexity of possibilities at the same time.
