NETMON-II a monitoring tool for distributed and multiprocessor systems NETMON-II is a distributed monitoring system, which is especially suited for performance measurements and evaluation in distributed or multiprocessor systems. It was developed with the special goal of least possible interference with the monitored object. The monitoring system itself is distributed, which means that every monitored object is associated with a dedicated monitoring station. A global time base is realized for the monitoring stations, which allows the collection of event streams from the distributed monitored objects to a global event stream. Furthermore the architecture of NETMON-II includes a central control station which permits facilities like start, stop and reset of measurements and an on-line evaluation. In addition to the monitoring unit, each monitoring station provides a load generation unit, which allows the generation of well defined workload types.
