ArcView ist ein komplettes GIS Paket für die Erstellung, Verwaltung, Analyse und Darstellung/Ausgabe von Daten mit Raumbezug. Über Angaben wie Adresse, Ort, Postleitzahl, Region, Land oder etwa eine GPS Koordinate lässt sich für viele Daten meist ein Raumbezug herstellen. Mit ArcView können Sie diesen Raumbezug nutzen, räumliche Zusammenhänge erkennen, Methoden räumlicher Analyse anwenden und so Ergebnisse und Erkenntnisse erlangen, wie sie aus einer Datenbank, einer Tabellenkalkulation oder einer Statistik-Software sonst nicht hervorgehen.
