FAIR, and interpolation/approximation method and tool. The paper describes a method for the generation of fair curves, based on a given set of discrete location vectors, declared either fixed or variable in the sense of potential corrections in response to fairness requirements. Tangent vectors and curvature vectors, as fixed conditions, may be specified at any discrete location. Curves are generated by interpolation, if exclusively fixed conditions are given. Variable data points lead to fair approximations, where the user may choose from a number of potential solutions. All examples were calculated by means of the curve generation and fairing software system `FAIR’.
